DKM Type XXIII Uboat 1:144 Scale

Ahoy shipmates,
And another German sub.
This is the TRUMPETER German Type XXIII Uboat.
Drilled out the molded closed hatch as I wanted to add a figure in the tower and
made a casting of the original hatch to display in the open position.
Some of the tower vents were drilled out.
Added a flag mast with home printed flag,
Added grab irons to the front of the tower and rails on the sides.
Painted with Tamiya acrylics, W&N oils and pastel chalk.
Kept the weathering on the subtle side.
Hope you like and thanks for looking
.

That is a good looking sub, and opening up the hatch & including a figure add a lot. Another fine addition to your submarine collection!

Thanks Tim for looking in and the kind comment.
Cheers,

You’ve been pretty busy there Joe

Thanks Russell for looking in and kind comment.
Cheers,

Thanks for sharing. Very nice build.

Very nice inspiration for the weathering. I have only build one sub previously, but will try out the big Revell 1/72 Type IX soon. I am a bit inexperienced on weathering on submarines.
It will be a beast and have no idea where to display it.

Thanks for looking in.
I build subs in all scale but I have not yet built the larger ones in 1:72 due to
lack of space…waiting for the kids to move out so I may reconquer some
addition space for larger showcases,
