DODGE WC-51 Normandy June 1944

Here I am again with a new topic. This is the Dodge WC-51/52 from Skybow Marque that made a short appearance, it’s a shame because their kits were excellent … Unlike my Stug III at 1/16 and my Opel Blitz at the scale 1/35, this post will seem less attractive to you… In 2003, when I created the kit, I did not have a digital camera but an analog one. The montage photos were enough for me in black and white and the colors were in slides… For this thread, I redid the photos of the completed model because the slides are inoperable. I therefore ask you to be lenient with the black and white photos because in addition I no longer have the originals!

Fortunately, the Dodge Skybow were taken over by the brand AFV-Club

Gerard that is an excellent model! VERY well done. I love the finish as well as the weathering. The figures look great too! Can you tell us what paint you used, weathering effects etc?

That is top shelf artwork there. Both vehicle and figures are equally finely done.

After some research I found a photo that shows the Dodge on its diorama. Alas, this diorama no longer exists today; it has been deleted to make space. I think we all lack it… On the other hand, as you can see, yesterday the crew was in Normandy and today they are already in Germany!!!

As I mentioned, I don’t have excellent photos for this subject but very old ones in black and white.

For those in color, I redo them as I go along with this thread..

As I specified, the tarp is made using Magic Sculpt. I proceeded in stages, the front part, the back part, and the upper part. It takes time but the result suits me. The black and white photos are not great… The balance lead is added to the spare wheel. Still progressing, my Dodge stops in front of the entrance of a farm… There are still quite a few porches of this type in Normandy.

My Dodge continues its progress inland…On this Dodge, the tool support frame is fixed at the front and not on the rear panel. Many years later after having built my Dodge while I was attending the D-Day commemorations, I came face to face with this vehicle! What was my pleasure to approach one in this Detail of the red cross painting on the grille. Many years later after having built my Dodge while I was attending the D-Day commemorations, I came face to face with this vehicle!
