Dragon M48 AVLB question

I noticed that Das Werk released a rebox of Dragons M48 AVLB as Bundeswehr vehicle. I checked he instructions on Scalemates andnoticed that Dragon made the “braces” in the bridge parts solid and not “x” shaped. I guess that no AM company adressed this issue and released a set of braces in the right shape?

Newland models in UK released a full bridge.

Twice as expensive as the whole kit?

Do you have a link for this?

Newland have their own toolings but you’ll also find they have brought a lot of the AA moulds, from the information I have he is inspecting them first and making any improvements before he starts to offer the kits for sale.
He’s also a distributor of Hobbylink

Luciano, I look for a link to the M48 AVLB bridge mentioned above.

Hermann that link is the website @AKirchhoff mentioned but I’ve just looked and don’t see the bridge you’re looking for, lots of British, a Dutch one and a US one on a M113.

Hi Luciano,
its not tragic, I will get the kit someday and see what to do with the bridge. Nowaday, The Das Werk kit is on discount.

Bloody Brexit! When I get the AVLB kit, I think I will build the braces from scratch, it´s cheaper.

Newland copies a few things from. Dragon. So I am not so sure the bridge will be better. There is a 3d bridge at cults. I printed it, can send you pics Tomorrow

I scratched the interior bay sections and hydraulic lines when i did mine. Even folded, the kit interior is severely neglected. I did an in depth article on my builds a fewyears ago.

I’m fairly sure Gino Q (heavy armor) did a build, addressing the braces & hydraulic lines issue

I did. I updated the braces a bit. Here is some info in it that may be helpful. I really only focused on what was clearly visible, not the underside.

Gino, that´s alot of extra work on the AVLB kit. A museum nearby has the bridge use as “gate”. I think a trip there will be helpful for detailing the bridge.

I have the dutch Centurion Bridge Conversion from newland, and pepped it up with the Das Werk bridgelayer. Nearly every part of the Bridgelayer arm was a copy… I used about 80% from Dragon/Das werk insted of the offering

Lighter tone newland - darker tone Dragon/Das Werk

But to the bridge. There are dimensionals problems with the Dragon offering. I am not sure the 3d printed version is 100% correct, but looks more like the real thing.

Dark gray - printed, light gray - Dragon/Das Werk

Hope it helps

Hermann, if you can find it , AMPS magazine ran a very detailed article illustrating all the corrections and improving the hydraulic lines and connections. I can’t find my copy at this time so I could give you the issue number and date. Hope this helps, Joel.
