New Dragon kit of an Sd.Kfz.250 NEU mit 5cm PaK 38
I have two 250s from Dragon in the stash and they are great kits, but if they continue to sell north of 60 Euro I will pass. Some of Dragon PzIV kits are currently sold for 80 Euro without working tracks and without interiour. There are better options out there.
Was this a one-off? I can’t see it being a major modification.
Yeah Dragon kits are about $25 off the mark nowadays.
This is a reissue of Cyber Hobby 6720, which was a limited edition kit released in 2012. Very nice, detailed kit. BTW, there’s one surviving example on display in Belgrade.
Cyber Hobby has it for $41:
No idea about shipping cost, though.
The 250/9 Alt is currently offered in Germany north of 70 Euro. I hope Tamyia, Academy, ICM or Miniart will bring out a new kit soon. Or AFV club, they have a nice 251 too
So just for fun. I pulled out my 250/9 box, bought for 44 Euro. Its a nice kit. But not a 70 Euro kit. Sorry.
No, 70 is just WAY too much money for that little kit. Like I said, Dragon is about $25 overpriced across the board. That is a nice kit though.
I think I have that somewhere in my stash. If bought for 44 Euro, I’d guess that was some time ago!
To go back to the original subject, I’m still none the wiser about how prevalent the conversion with the Pak 38 was. I’d guess it is a one-off. I believe that LSSAH had few Pak 38s mounted on the Sdkfz10, with light armour on the front, which of course is the basis of the Sdfkz250, but I’ve not seen an armoured one before, apart from this unique specimen. It is mentioned specifically in Chamberlain and Doyle’s “Encyclopaedia of German Tanks in WW2” as “one example in Yugoslavia”. It seems likely that it was expedience, perhaps there was a Pak 38 with a damaged carriage and an Sdkfz250 with a damaged back end and someone just had the bright idea of putting them together.
I have two or three Dragon 250/251s in the closet and would purchase another if the price was right. They are neat vehicles and this is a fun variant.
