I decided to back date Das Werk’s Stug G to StuH 42 f/18, using AFV modeler’s 10.5 cm barrel. This involves scratch building the fighting compartment, including the breach for the 10.5cm howitzer.
Is there source for a drawing of the howitzer breach? If not, Is the 1/35 model of towed version of 10.5cm LeH18 from AFV club or Dragon accurate enough to use as a pattern to be scaled up to 1/16? I assume the breach would not be changed very much except for adding the safety frame and case catcher.

Chuck,
Waffen Revue #67 has some drawings(but no measurements) of leFH 18’s breech.
And I do own a Bulgarian Manual on this howitzer, that also has some drawings.
I will check it in the afternoon and will post here what I find.
Cheers,
Angel

Thank you. the breach as illustrated opens horizontally to the right, which suggest the gun is best loaded from the left side. But the would not suit the arrangement in german AFV because the commander and gunner are usually in the left side. In StuH, is the gun flipped upside down so the breach opens to the left and is loaded from the right?

Thank you, it does. Looks like the field gun breech orientation is retained, but the gun is loaded from the right side like in other german AFVs.
