I’ve dedicated this month to collect Fujimi kits and I’m expanding my WW2 IJN fleet… I’m slowly starting to gather readings and references… My initial intention is to collect references from the 3DCG Series and Model Art Super Illustration series, but I would be very happy to receive your valuable recommendations.

It might be Hard to get All the Carriers; As far as I know, The Carrier Shinyo,Which was A German Liner converted to A Carrier, Isn’t Avaliable in Any Scale.

To me and my fingers and eyes, this is a more forgiving scale even though the trade off is a mountain of detail.

), this set has been on my mind. I think I’ll somehow get my hands on it. Even can not reach this set so there is an another Chinese brand, at the very least it seems to include the most essential details, like a wooden deck

This might sound silly but how about 1:3000th scale? It’s common for wargamers using metal castings but there are (or were) boxed sets of simple plastic kits; I came across one decades ago but haven’t seen any more in the U.K., but then I came across these:

Many years ago I assembled most of the 1:3000 scale models for the Battle of Tsushima in 1905. Even with the compressed “ground scale” for gaming (and lacking one cruiser squadron) the Japanese battle line was over two yards long! It’s also worth noting that several of the Japanese vessels present served in not only the First, but also the Second World War; the armoured cruiser Yakumo surviving even that conflict in a seaworthy state to be scrapped in 1946. Of the four Japanese pre-dreadnought battleships at Tsushima Mikasa survives, Shikishima was a harbour accommodation hulk at Sasebo until scrapped in 1948, Asahi was converted into a repair ship in 1938 and torpedoed by the submarine USS Salmon in 1942, and Fuji was a floating barracks at Yokosuka until 18 July 1945 when she was badly damaged by U.S. carrier aircraft although she did not sink until after the end of hostilities, the wreck being scrapped in 1948.

Your point about the Tsushima battle line’s length … it’s fascinating how many of those IJN ships from Tsushima had such incredible longevity, serving even into WWII. Thanks for sharing

This thing’s a beast in the best way possible! Getting a ton of value right out of the box with loads of photo-etched (PE) parts and even 3D-printed bits Kits seems end up with an absolutely stunning, incredibly detailed model with first impressions
Start to thinking that 1/200 scale is the best scale for IJN’s
