We are moving forward the collection of details for the F-8 Crusader.
Using Trumpeter’s 1/32 scale F-8 as a base, we are designing the different cockpits with their corresponding ejection seat variants and back lighted panels according to the different evolutionary periods of the F-8. This will allow each modeler to customize his model to the preferred era.
As requested, we are also developing the rectangular radome, which also involves changing the front part of the fuselage.
Other suggestions being addressed include the ZUNI rocket launchers and, of course, the main idea behind this monograph: the details of the wells, some maintenance panels, and some fuselage parts that are not well detailed.
However, one unexpected line is the conversion to the RF-8 photographic reconnaissance model. We loved this model from the moment we saw it, and some modelers encouraged us to develop it.During the data collection period, we discovered Paul Fisher’s conversion to the RF-8. This stopped us in our tracks because, although we designed our products to take full advantage of the quality of laser printers, the quality of Fisher’s work was remarkably professional.
However, we were informed of the accident at his workshop and decided to contact him so as not to hinder his launch if he decided to sell it again, or to collaborate if he had parts that we could use together.
However, he informed us that he had no intention of relaunching the project and that he was unable to recover his material.
Therefore, with the guarantee that we will not hinder a possible relaunch of the brand or compete with a similar version, we are going to do it.
This involves at least the development of the front half of the fuselage and other details that we are keeping to ourselves for the moment. In this regard, we are extremely grateful for the exceptional collaboration that has provided us with the necessary information.
