F4 -E Phantom Question

What is the main difference between the Early F4 -E and the Late F4-E Phantom ?
I have a early E in the stash and debating on grabbing a late E version .
Thanks

There is no official designation, but most people consider the F-4Es without slatted wings as “early” and those with slats as “late”.

In a nutshell, early would have short cannon muzzle and unslatted wings. Although the longer muzzle very quickly replaced the short so you will see that on the earlier wing F-4E.
Late, long cannon muzzle, slatted wings, TISEO mounted on left wing. Might be a few other little things like antenna on the spine, but they changed quite frequently sometimes.

An invaluable quick reference is the World Airpower special. If you find one at a reasonable price, get it!

No worries.
Most of the model companies tend to the early variant and the late with all the bells and whistles. If you have the references and parts provided in the kit, you should be able to do anything in-between.
Besides from the wings, which was the only real structural change I can think of, most of the changes were subtle. Happened as they appeared on the production line or as refits in service.
