Continuation of the FC Model Trend’s FSV and AFV Club M113A1 LRV.
Almost a month since the last update as I had an unplanned need to return to Australia.
I have finally got some paint on. When it existed Humbrol 179 French Artillery Green was considered a good match for Aust Green and while I have 2 tins left, I thought I would hunt for the future and found Gunze H304, pic 1 shows 179 and 304 side by side and I like the match and used 304 on the model to see it in as a whole.
So, I undercoated with and enamel grey and applied the Gunze next a coat of Pledge (whatever the current name for one go is) and when dried I applied the decals. The following (and can’t remember where I learn this) is a method I found which, for me, always hides the carried film; I next applying some more Pledge to the decal location and then dip the decal in some Pledge after I have it in position, I brush it down and let it dry. Once dry I then give the decal another coat of pledge and again let this dry leaving it for at least 24 hours. The next step it to remove the shine and for this I use Wattyl Estapol Interior Polyurethane Matt in a 50/50 mix of estapol and white spirit and the carrier film disappears (pic.2). The remaining pictures are of the unweathered vehicle; I haven’t added the light lenses but these will be on prior to weathering and for easy of weathering I have not I affixed the turret. My weathering process usually takes 3-4 weeks as I do a bit here and there and I don’t often go heavy on it. The last photo is my improved weld seam.
Hope you enjoy.
