Long time waiting, hoping, hopes crushed, hoping and waiting again.
Is this the same kit they released a decade ago, or a different version?
Well, they did eventually release the Devastator. So, buck up, champ!
Different tractor and very different trailer.
They did call the first kit Elefant even if it actually was a Franziska.
Hope you’re right, and it’s not just the same plastic in a different box!
At least the boxart is different …
Soooo, this beast could carry an MBT 70/Kpz 70? Interesting…
Been awaiting for one in 1/35, since forever.
I don’t know which “they” you’re talking about, but it’s not the manufacturer:

The kit’s title on the box is “Faun SLT-56 Tank Transporter” without any nickname.
Maybe it was only the decal manufacturer who called it Elephant.
The incorrect nickname is still common in conjunction with Trumpeter 00203
Misspelled, too, with ph instead of f ![]()
I’ve had the SLT-56 kit in my stash since soon after it came out, plus the Voyager etched sets for it, but don’t recall ever looking at the decals
Anyway, a lot of people confuse the SLT-50 with the -56, though the mistake is slightly odd for a kit manufacturer who’s clearly studied the real thing pretty well.
Yeah, they did phuck up the spelling
This is indeed a beast. Brian @BootsDMS didn’t Pete Smith build one of these years ago? I seem to recall seeing this or something like it at a Salisbury club monthly meet, probably nearly 20 years ago now. It stuck in my mind as I recall he had put small 1/35 muddy boot prints all over the trailer!
That looks like an SLT-56 to me, yes, with the two headlights on each side, the large box with a smaller one behind on the right, etc. So they also confused the two, and the kit’s title should be Faun ‘Franziska’ 8×6 56 ton Panzertransporter.
He did indeed; a monster of a model!
I can’t realistically see me getting one, even if appropriate for a Kpz 70. I have Trumpeter’s Soviet MAZ but I’m not sure I’ll ever tackle even that.
I think I have the Trumpy kit in my stash….
The thing is, these vehicles take a lot of room, both for storage or display. I got hold of the MAZ 537 as I thought it another way to display an AFV ie as a load, but it’s a lot of building, so I’m not surprised you’re where you are Terry. I would have gone off on at least a dozen tangents by now!
