Finished: RAF Mustang Mk. Ia

Recently finished Accurate Miniatures’ 1/48 P-51 Mustang #3400 using an Xtradecal set for RAF markings. It was an enjoyable build, not least of all because the Allison-engined Mustangs are, IMO, some of the best looking Mustang variants out there.

Finished primarily with Vallejo acrylics. Weathering was a combination of different chipping techniques, oils, and acrylic washes. I did not overcoat with flat at the end because I wanted the model to retain some of the sheen that metal—even when dirty—has in real life.

Open to any constructive feedback. Still relatively new to the hobby since coming back. The clear parts are my big disappointment on this one; made a number of amateur mistakes.

My only gripe with the kit other than the clear parts is the prop. Not only is it ridiculously thick, but the washout is the opposite of what it should be (tips should be a shallower angle of attack than the base of the blades)!

A pair of CBI Mustangs is likely next.

A right little stunner, the wear and tear around the cockpit entry is spot on.

looks good, the decals look undamaged/clean? compared to the rest of the surface? look at my recent post on my Warhawk, far from perfect. Weathering frustrates me so much that sometimes I just don’t weather the model at all. I am looking for constructive criticism too, I can take it
