Fixing a warped resin hull -possible?

So I am thinking about getting this model, but the hull is bent/warped. I know some hot water can be used to straighten it out, but I never succeeded completely fixing warped/bent swords and whatnot. It never got straight, and even if it did, the resin “remembers”, and bends back a bit after cooling in my experience. Is it possible to fix this warpage completely? The model is not cheap, so I am worried a bit.

I would hollow out the hull along the centreline from below.
Make a slit 2 - 3 mm wide, get a strip of aluminium that fits the slit.
Warm the hull and force it straight while it cools, use epoxy to glue in the metal strip.

If the ship is to be glued to a base I would try using screws, fore and aft, from below the base to hold it down. Use screws or metal rods that are threaded for nuts, drill holes into the hull from below, use epoxy glue to fasten the threaded rod in the hole. Drill corresponding holes in the base and use nuts from below to tighten down the hull.

Being such a long part and with details, personally I would not risk. There are hundreds of kits out there to build without so much trouble…

That is some hard-core surgery right there… it makes me seriously worried -not planned to work it so hard. But thank you for the suggestions. Probably the answer, for me, is what Carlos is saying -forget about the ship :frowning: (It is the Engadine in 1/700 by the way with its own little airplanes and whatnot, but it costs about 55 EUR -second hand…)

Yep.
Pretty hard core warping to start with

In my experience hot water isn’t enough. Granted, the largest part I’ve had to “unwarp” was a resin upper hull by AEF Designs. Most of you know that means I had my work cut out for me.
I’d suggest a warm oven. It’s not going to melt into a puddle. Just keep testing the pliability until you can tweak it.
