ok so building my Sherman trying to do it as flat foot floosie I’ve been researching and got most of the info I need got the crew names and ranks but it doesn’t add up the commander should be a sergeant but there is only corporals. I know its petty but its annoying me I want to put correct ranks in correct position in the tank. these guys went through hell I think they deserve me to be as accurate as I can does any one know how I might find out
- Cpl. William Hasse
- Cpl. Vincent Morreale
- Cpl. Sidney Meyer
- T/4 John Latimi
- Pvt. Marvin Aldridge

I know that the original photo of the tank is in Black & White, and this version has been colorized. But none of the crew appear to be wearing their rank chevrons in this photo.

Note spelling in title. Should be “Floogie” according to the photo.

“Flat Foot Floogie (with a Floy Floy)" (a/k/a “Flat Fleet Floogee”) is a 1938 jazz song, written by Slim Gaillard, Slam Stewart, and Bud Green, and performed by Gaillard and Stewart as Slim & Slam.” (Wikipedia)

In wartime, its whom ever is next in line to take charge. There could be many reasons why they didn’t have a Sgt in command of the tank. You often had Sergeants leading platoons instead of lieutenants etc etc.

Don’t know if it’s the same vehicle, but here’s some pics from the opposite side and front of another E8 from the same division (11th Armored) as “Flat Foot Floogie”.

Hi thank you. I’ve got that picture and just didn’t think to look for the rank chevrons doh. That makes it much easier and I do realise it’s floogie not floosie must have been auto correct or something. Thank you all for your help

Performed by Louie Armstrong. Dad had an original 78 of it and I dropped it and it shattered like glass. Cost me $150.00 t replace it in 1972

And due to casualties and lack of replacements some tanks didn’t sport full crews.
