Superb restoration and it answers a lot of questions, especially about schurtzen and Ostketten. Clever mounting of the brackets allowing whole unit to move out to clear the tracks. Very late vehicle, “Saukopf” mantlet with machine gun orifice, folding travel lock on glacis and “Rummdumfeur” remote loaders machine gun.

If you watch a previous episode when painting the camo, they mention that Allkett use Brown as a base colour and applied the paint accordingly. Was that the case … anybody know by chance ?

Always learning something new about the StuG and the Schürzen. I didn’t know they made those modifications, so those rare historical pics are nice. And now it makes sense why they had such a wider separation so all the plates moved as one, very clever, to maintain the clearance when the Ostketten was in use.

That’s a good pickup. I have a couple of Allket StuG’s in the stash I’ll have to keep that in mind when I start more research on them. So the other question then is, was this specific to Allket’s methods since they also made other AFV’s were those vehicles also painted the same way?
