ForeArt 1/35 M142 on preorder 2 versions

I’ll gin something up soon and send it to you guys. I’ve got a lot going on this weekend, so instead of the traditional review with the box description, parts count, and throwaway statements like “With some TLC it should be an awesome build,” I’m just going to get down to the nitty gritty and show you what needs to be corrected. With photos of course.

Sounds good. Look forward to it when time permits, no pressure.

Started on the ATACMs version today. Only one extra step for the vehicle proper, and that’s the additional cab armor, which I won’t even be using. The good news is that this version gives still gives you both missiles. No reason to buy the other version any more.

I noticed the different parts but I didn’t check if all the parts for both versions were in the kit
Foreart probably didn’t mention that you have both versions in one box for commercial reasons so people like me would buy both versions :joy:

Maybe they took lessons from P. T. Barnum

“Ooohh! COOL! Different versions! One of each please …”

I like the steps you provided and recommend folks hit you up if they are going to build the kit. I hope to find the kit at Nats.

Thanks. I’m sure you’ll find it there, and a good price. Unfortunately I won’t be seeing you there this year. My wife already had something else booked.

Something else I just noticed - they sent me the 3D printed wheels, and they are very nice. They include the larger nut on the outer ring which is a more subdued part of the CTIS than the older style wheel. Out of six wheels, I have four different versions - that is, that larger nut appears in four different locations relative to the bulge. That’s attention to detail.

May be of some interest to HIMARS fans:

Based on that, which is a good idea, they should have a lightweight model so that they can be transported by helos. Only a few thousand pounds less for the 53k to carry.

Infil on one side of the island, fire and move to the other side for exfil.

Do you want to have Terminators? Because this is how you get Terminators.

That said, it’s a neat looking concept, and I’d love to see it in 1/35 styrene.

Like the concept, should still have manual steering to keep the electronic signature down.

I agree with Lee I would like to see a 1/35 kit of the vehicle.

Damn. That dude knows how to write a review. No wasted words on a detailed description of the box construction, or wishful thinking about upcoming detail sets. Not even a mention of the term TLC.
He does mention possibly getting cement on the sliding rails, as I do in my very brief review. But my method insures that you don’t have to worry about it. He also mentions that you can’t build two launchers from the kit, but actually you can.
I’ve thought about a separate thread dedicated just to the rockets and pods.
If you’re building the ATACMS version with the missile emerging from the pod, you also need the rear enclosure to be breaking away as well. There are guides to show where you could cut it. In actuality you would even see that part with all the smoke coming out of the rear of the launcher. I may display it like that.
Oh, he also writes this:

The injection molding ports in some parts of the model are difficult to locate, with some even being located in cramped corners.

If you read my modest review you know the area he’s talkin about. A simple reversal in construction step is all it takes to remedy that.

The painting guide is indeed nice, but still lacking in a few important areas, particularly the transmission and the transmission support brackets.
Nicely done overall.

I think that your build you tell us how to fix and what to Avoid. Also how to improve on what we have.
I will be staying and watching you review.
Thank you kindly for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us :folded_hands::clap:t2:
