French Infantry, Sedan 1940

I finally finished this guy after a few months of putting it aside for other projects. He’s from the Dragon set #6738 but with a Hornet head. I painted him entirely with Vallejo acrylics. The sand bags are made from putty; this was my second attempt and I think they’re still too big. I need to be more consistent with them, the first few I made were ok but as I went on I just started making them bigger without realizing it. The ammo crates are old Verlinden ones I had lying around as was the cobblestone section. Comments welcome!

I remember seeing this a little while ago as a work in progress. Nice to see it all finished up- a striking and interesting way to display a single figure.

Thank you Karl, I couldn’t find my old post on this thing for some reason so I just started a new one- thanks again for the kind words!

Looks great. Only possible comment would maybe add some dust/sand/dirt to the lower levels of the sandbags as they look kinda “clean”.

Thanks Ryan, that’s a good idea they do look too clean actually.

It’s always tricky to give comments on photos.

Like the setting and the paintwork,

The bags need more discipline on your next attempt.:innocent:

And he has remarkably clean boots for the desert..

But overal great job.

Thank you Jan.

My next sand bag job will be a better effort in the future. I got so involved with shaping them that I lost track of their size.

As for his boots, the setting of this figure is Sedan France, not the desert
