The ammo can shown on the pictures by Hans-Hermann are those I used in the early 80s. So for your M201 they should fit.
The large can in the other website is a logistical can. It was not intended for combat use. It contained 16 boxes of 50 rounds each for the standard rifle FSA 49/56.

The only 1/35 ones that I know of are in the Tiger Models VBL and AMX10RC models or Azimut VAB.

Thanks. I think I have a plan to CAD them. I’ll let you guys know in a few days. I am assuming they are used as storage cans too? The AA-52 file I have has a cloth bag to hold the rounds on the gun. I was planning on putting a couple cans in the jeep as storage.
Another question. Any idea how late (1980’s?) the 10L Vin jerry cans were used for wine rations? (Leave it to the French 
) I saw these on Cults3D and thought they would look good with the jeep maybe in a trailer with other supplies. The listing says they were used until the '90s.
If I remember correctly the canvas bag was clipped under the MG and contained a 50 round belt.
The wine can was still in service in the late 80s. There was a wine can holder inside the VAB. However most of the time the can was filled water at that time.

That sucks.
When I entered service the MRE included a small bottle of alcohol and a pack of cigarettes of the Gauloises brand. They were stamped Troupes which means Troopers.
Each month you got 10 packs of cigarettes or packs of tobacco if you smoked the pipe.
Then a minister decided that it was bad for the health.
That sounds about right. Politicians always know best…not.
Any chance you have any good pictures of the large RCIR case that the smaller, individual meal boxes come in? I can find plenty of individual box pics, but no good ones of the larger case. I was thinking about a few RCIR cases and a couple vin jerry cans in a trailer would look good with the jeep.
I found a couple, but none straight on that I can read or copy.
The RICR on your pictures are too late for your project. They were issued starting in the 90s. I’ll check my references later. I’m not at home for a couple of days.

Final final version.
I also got some paint on the jeep. The green is Tamiya XF-5 which I read is an exact match for the green in the French version of NATO camo, which is a brighter green. It looks right to me. The other colors are Military Brown and black. The interiors and roll bar were left dark OD green.
Next up is detail painting, decals, weathering, etc., etc., etc…
I just noticed another item I need to correct. I painted the rear of the windshield frame to match the hood camo so it blends in when down.
Apparently, that is not how they were. The back of the windshield frame was also left dark OD green like the rest of the interior.
An easy fix. Back to the paint booth.

You’re right, XF5 from Tamiya is a good match for an “in duty” vehicle. It’s a bit too dark for a fresh paint camo as used for the Nationnal day but it’s really a good green for an used vehicle . The brown should be “earth brown” not reddish brown like germans 3 tones one so your looks correct too.
