French/NATO Tank Crew early Cold War

Anyone have any ideas of a manufacturer for French/NATO Tank Crew early Cold War… heads and/or full figures as pictured? I can’t even find any heads with gasmasks in 1/35 scale that are close. Live resin ones sold out everywhere.

Apart from the obvious comment on the pic in that if you’re wearing a respirator and not bothering with gloves, then you’re on a hiding to nothing (let alone the fact that it’s not clear if the crew are wearing a protective suit or normal coveralls), you’ll be pushed to find very much at all.

You may be able to adapt some of the heads from this set if you can find any:

If you decide not to pursue the NBC option then Blast Models do these:

Other than that, it’s reach for the Milliput or Magic Sculp; there’s precious little out there for Cold War modellers - though it’s getting better with Valkyrie’s efforts and similar.

Here’s a French NBC suit just to let you know what you’re up against (though I’m a little uncertain as to the time frame):

In other words may not be early Cold War which is what you’re after.

I looked at the MAIM set several times - if only they had one set of the same instead of all the others that are more sci-fi than military. As for the blast set - that may work thanks!

Not really an issue as they are in MOPP 3, no gloves. Gloves are the last item added for MOPP 4 since you are almost useless with the bulky gloves on.

MOPP levels

  • MOPP Level 0: No protective gear is worn, but it is available
  • MOPP Level 1: Protective suit is worn
  • MOPP Level 2: Protective suit and boots are worn
  • MOPP Level 3: Protective suit, boots, and mask are worn
  • MOPP Level 4: All protective gear is worn, including butyl rubber gloves

I can’t remember how we approached it in the Brit Army but one would think that if one needs to wear one’s respirator then one’s hands might be under threat too, not least if the threat is liquid agent.

I had that set - I used it on an M48 project… its USA and a little bit out of the era I was looking for but may do the job with a bit of work. Thanks for the tip.
