Much appreciated for your comments mate ..I wanted to set it up a bit as it’s a small model it idea being it’s easier to view ..not totally sure about the figure to be honest it’s one of a small selection that’s been sat on the stash for a while came with two heads ww2 helmet and the late helmet which is ideal for the 1950s ..I have seen similar on a popular auction site

What an excellent model Terry! The engine detailing draws extra interest, the paint looks spot on and the weathering is just right. The figure is well done, too!

I’ve been a bit behind the curve of late, so forgive me being late: the model is stunning - but to me, the figure almost eclipses it. It certainly sets it off. The Mk III helmet is superb.

I think I’m going to have to get the Gecko kit. I still want to do a scene from Siege at Jadotville.
You know way more about Landies than I do. The one below is an 86" Series I. I thought I’d have to use the AK Series IIA and cut it down quite a bit. I assumed the sills and rear fender had been cut down for civilian use. But your build shows the missing sills and rear fender much more like this, so it’s a much better starting point:
As for the technicals, there’s some leeway there, (using modern seats is not a mistake I plan to make) but that big box underneath the chassis on the driver’s side tells me that once again the Gecko kit appears to be the better option. Do I have that right?

Scratch all of the above. Gecko has slanted rear doors and screen fully covering headlights. AK it is. I sure do like the included weapons in the Gecko set though.

Hello mate thank you ..Great film ..the Gecko model is. Bit of an anomaly it has an 86/88 chassis although it scales out at 80 inc ..they have a couple of others coming out which has the later grill but still the same early slanted door and I’m sure they have another to be released with the straight body. Ak Land Rover being a 2a has a totally different body ..

Well, the good thing is - it was a movie, so who knows? I’ve found photos of vehicles from that time, but not of Landies. Again, I think there’s more leeway with the tehcnicals. I really dig the fender treatment on the one.

Most of the Land Rover appear to be long wheel base or series 2 given the date of the incident it’s not beyond the realms that they had series ones around but would have been the later 86/88 versions

Also the 86 in the picture has a fully floating rear axel as opposed to what it should be

Yeah, some of them had modern seats so using them as references would not be a good idea.

What a great little Rover, the engine bay is superb mate, but the figure is a real class act, he looks very very good like that.
