I have to say I was really looking forward to the Land Rovers when Gecko announced them and after a bit of a wait it arrived a few weeks ago and further versions. To come …
The content of the box is really nice crisp moulding and very well detailed .
So let’s get on with it …first up is the chassis …The problem with the chassis is that it’s not an 80 chassis …it measured out correctly but the actual configuration is that of an 86/88 Land Rover the give away is the bendy outriggers .
The one on the left of the picture is an 80 inch series one on the bright side it will be ok for conversions later …
Second issue…don’t get me wrong I really like this kit the detail is fabulous…the supplied engine builds up into a fabulous replica but it’s not an early series one engine it’s the later Siamese bore version
Note the change of direction of the sump along other changes but with the bonnet closed who’s going to know .
The engine cry’s out for some additional detail
And started on the chassis and details .as I’ve mentioned the chassis isn’t right for an early series one but for a later version 1954 onwards…but my plan is to build this as it is and model more variants later .
I changed the hand brake mount into something more resembling the original.as an aside the part to the right of the brake the transmission tunnel the part shows fitting from the top this part is too large but if you turn it over and pop it in that way it works fine
Been a while what with one thing and another…this little kit has taken up an inordinate amount of time ..do I hate it no …is it wrong ..well yes however..on we go
Given the amount of detail provided some areas a glaring bare.
The tail gate is one
Time for some paint …I could bore you with the whole colour change and dates etc ..Suffice to say this version has a bronze green chassis along with the body
Love how you have finished this Terry! A sort of visual representation of the rugged and go anywhere reputation of the Landy- just sat there on a big old muddy hill! You have weathered it well too- particularly the slick mud on the tyres. Kudos on the figure work as well - by the way what manufacturer is the fig?
