purely as an exercise to satisfy my curiosity, I did a search of 1/35 Leopard 2 kits, there are 66 different Leopard 2 gun tank kits, including this one, to choose from. Add to that engineering, SPAAG, bridging vehicles, takes the total over 100. Crazy.

I’ve already built the 1/35 Meng Leopard 2A7, and I have the Meng 2A7+ and the Rye Field 2A7V, those two as yet unbuilt. I was considering getting the Tamiya 2A7V also, but I’ve stifled myself for now. I certainly have plenty of kits to keep me busy, and no need to get a 2A8 yet, and I’m inclined to wait, as Gino suggests. But the 2A8 (the kit) looks impressive with the integrated Trophy and the remote controlled weapon station.

I think it is the case for most tanks in service, since the vehicle keeps getting upgrade until the base hull can’t support the equipment anymore.
Prototype tanks usually have less variants.
