I’ve seen these German Tents before (I believe there is a Tamiya kit with one in) but didn’t know they could be joined together as per this photo. I’ve included another pic of the tents in the background in their normal single state.
These were taken at Tankfest 2023 at Bovington.
Was this a common configuration or just something the re-enactors dreamed up?
Italeri did a zeltbahn tent with their Kubelwagen kit.
Here’s some “Gebirgsjäger” or mountain soldier tents.
So to directly answer your question: Yes, the Germans did that as well.

The whole point of the Zeltbahn was that they could be buttoned together to make larger tents, this is why they have buttons all round. It’s actually quite an inspired bit of kit.
