Not enough time available. I’m a slow builder anyway but I’ve heard the MMF kits are pretty “involved”.
The M109 alone would take me a month at least…….

I think leave the spare in, where it is in your 4th and 5th pic. My only suggestion is that it seems to “catch the light” a bit, especially compared to the well-weathered truck body and road wheels.
Maybe some Tamiya matt coat or a light dust wash?
The landing gear and wheels, in the retracted position, went on today.
The roof is dry-fitted at present and later this week, I’ll start on the decals and a couple final fittings.
Then, it’s back to decaling the M172 trailer before I get the Pod tied down.
Hobby On!
how does the M915 look its on my wish list
The Trumpeter M915 looks great and is very detailed. I converted it to an M920 a few years ago.
Thank you
Built an M915 awhile back. It turned out OK.
I haven’t opened the M916 box yet, so can’t really say much about it.
Looks a beast of a tractor though
It is the same tractor with a powered front axle. Other than that, it is the same as an M915.
and a heavier frame/taller ride height apparently.
It also has a winch where the 915 does not if I am correct.
The M920 has the winch across the rear of the cab.
I think the M916 uses the same frame, just a little higher suspension.
I drove a couple 916s on my vacations to Afghanistan. Hell of a truck couldn’t take a hit though.
@Johnnych01 @Denimo thank you both for the kind words!
@petbat its been a pleasure, thanks for all the work you do running the group builds. I have really enjoyed having more reason and structure to building models again. Helps keep the motivation up
Hi Bert, I did a quick measurement of the rig, including the overhang at the back its’s a tad over 70 ft/21.336 m ft in length.
That’s longer than my M920/M870 combo and longer even than my M911 C-HET/M747 combo.
Slowly but surely, I’m getting more done. Detail painting for the most part.
Windshield and canvas dry fit for the moment. Turns out the Aqueous Semi-Gloss OD is really good for M151A2 canvas.
Mike
Looking fine Mike.
Well, I have now cleaned up and assembled all the skeletal frames. I have also cleaned up all the track pads, so now I have started doing runs. The kit tracks have 65 links, but I have read they are 2 links too long to represent the live track correctly so I’ll do 60 links per side, then add more from there. The kit issue is the reason I bought the Model Kasten replacements all those years ago…
Work on the Pod continues. The U S ARMY decal folded up on this side, so I’ll have print a replacement. The other side’s ARMY and fleet numbers and the markings around each side window were fun to install as the textured surface of the sidewalls is like medium-grit sandpaper.
Should finish the decals tomorrow and then a flatcote, once I’ve touched up that mysterious gray patch that appeared after I applied some Microsol.
Never seen anything like that before.
Looks great … really nice work there.
Thanks John, It’s been a journey for sure. By far the easiest part of the project so far was the M172 trailer. Must say, I loved building the Big Mack though.
The whole platform looks great, and you have added / done some amazing detailing on it all.
