Graffiti

Gang, the freight car load thread and others have been so much fun, how about a thread of graffiti?

On freight cars, locomotives, railroad structures, let’s see some graffiti samples?

So, I ask - where my taggers at? KoSprueOne, I remember that caboose you modeled years ago.

Too easy. There’s a string of cars off of 287 I’ve been wanting to photograph for years. They haven’t moved in all that time.

Is that along where you take pictures of Miss Molly and the other Fort Worth Western locos?

I do not have any graffiti pictures to share. I’m actually too stodgy and too much of a prude to like graffiti. But I admit that I am amazed at the skill of so many of the graffiti artists. And to be honest, even though it does not fit with my military and otherwise muted Earth tone color preferences, the bright colors that they use really appeals to me. I’m a walking contradiction when it comes to graffiti on rail cars, trucks, etc. So let’s see what you all see that looks so cool.

These aren’t my photos, but some screenshots from something on Youtube - the scope of the art blew me away. I guess they just never repaint this engine!

A railfan was chasing this around the UP 1150 GP 60 J Yard switcher in LA - that is wild - what a beast!

If I just had a bigger scale dummy loco  the top pic would be a cool diorama!

I’m a big fan of ‘Hobo’ Monikers. I bench more of those than any other street art or graffiti these days. One of the most prolific was Colossus Of Roads (RIP)

I’ll find more pictures of my own but for now this is an introduction on YT.

Considering all the cars and trucks that get caught on level crossings …

Interesting selection above. I have never seen graffiti with sexual topics before.

One of the most well known railroad graffiti artists is Ichabod, or ICH. I’ve not seen any of his work posted here yet, but I’m aware of where one of his “works” resides - the aforementioned stretch on 287. I thought I had photographed it in recent years, ut if I did, I can’t find it. I had planned on going by there this weekend for a wedding, but my schedule makes it impossible. Definitely during Christmas break though,

To me there is a difference between graffiti and art. Most of these fall into the art category.

Where I live, if you want the graffiti to stop, paint a mural or some nice art over it and the graffiti stops at that location.
