Group build?

Hi all - how does everyone feel about a group build in January? (sorry if I’m not allowed to ask this, apologies to the Mods if not, just delete it)

Any interest? And if so, any thoughts on theme/title?

I had a couple of ideas -

“Not going anywhere anytime soon”

“The last of my kind”

“Guardian”

Being perverse, how about something in Resin Only?

Actually joking, having struggled with my recent Munga, I don’t think I want to go near resin for a while and certainly wouldn’t wish to inflict such miseries on fellow modellers; that said…

Brian & Chris, I think you’re on to something!

If I may add given Accurate Armour’s closing, many members purchased AA items recently, a group build honoring Accurate Armour for all the joy and delight they’ve provide modeler’s over the years seems like a good idea.

Could AA kits or accessories be featured in the group build?

Need reason to start…

Well, it is an AA model, and in my all too limited experience of resin, their efforts aren’t too bad - the instructions are normally quite good.

People do forget however, that the Pig wasn’t just about Northern Ireland (although understandably, a bit like the Saracen, it’s become synonymous with that) but was in use since the early 50s to carry an Infantry Section (just); I also read somewhere that it was issued until Saracen became more widely available, as it - Saracen - had been earmarked for Malaya; however, the Pig was in use in BAOR certainly, what I call the Bronze Green era - nothing quite like such a shiny beast to break up the drab finishes, inevitably on display at model shows.

But other arms (that is other than the RAC or Infantry) certainly used it including the Royal Artillery, not least to tow the Green Archer radar.

Hmmm, clearly a case of putting my foot in my mouth(!)

However, a sort of tribute build to AA would certainly reduce the stash in my case.

An AA tribute build would be cool - I’ve not got any of their kits so would need to go shopping but I’m up for it.

Always wanted to build a Bedford army truck as it happens soooooo…

Chris - be aware that AA are closing down (and may well have done so by now) and their stuff in stock is rapidly dwindling.

I’m checking Evilbay as we speak. Fingers crossed.

To my knowledge, anyone can create and run a campaign at any time. There is no need to ask permission.

How to Start New Group Builds / Campaigns

A bunch of campaigns are set to kick off on January 1. Most of them last a full year.

Fortress in the Sky: B-17 at 90
Got Hitched
Korea: 1950 to 1953
M113: Jack of all Trades
Tiger Battalion

A bunch of perpetual campaigns also typically reset on January 1 and run for a year.

Hanger Queen XV
Hot Out of the Molds 2025
Sci-Fi and Alternative History Campaign XI
Unfinished Business 2025
Workin’ on the Railroad 2025

If you have an idea for a campaign and are willing to act as the event coordinator, or can find another person to fulfill that roll, go for it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Whoa. Slowly backs away
