Any guesses what this is? Here is a small hint. This ship first appeared onscreen in 1972. This is the first and best version of this ship. There were a total of three versions of it - each drastically different in look from the previous version.

That is a section of the original God Phoenix from Gatchaman, looking from the left rear underside. The diamond is the rear lift thruster. The structure on the top is the hanger for Ken’s plane. The extensions to the sides are the rear wing roots. The absence of the main thrusters and the odd way the fuselage blends with the wing roots threw me off.
At first, I thought is was one of the enemy mecha from Gatchaman that splits into pieces but I could not find one with those exact characteristics. Also, I do not believe any of the alien mecha make multiple appearances whereas the God Pheonix is destroyed a few times and the first incarnation is, indeed, by far, the best.
Anyway, that’s my guess!
