Absolutely gorgeous sculpting. I’d love to build these.

Is PPSH submachine gun in use in summer 1941?

The Germans appear to be getting the worst of it, which may not suit everyone! The Soviet officer appears to have “won” an MP40. Surely, this is precisely the kind of combat the “Blitzkrieg” was supposed to avoid? I won’t deny that it happened at this point in Barbarossa, but how widespread would it be?

Wikipedia say no
" The new weapon was produced in a network of factories in Moscow, with high-level local Party members made directly responsible for meeting production-targets. A few hundred weapons were produced in November 1941 and another 155,000 were made during the next five months."

Which is funny given Soga is a Russian company, you’d think they’d know that. Or at least of checked.

Great set of figures nonetheless, and I’m sure they depict a scene that occurred all too often, even if the weapons didn’t match.

100% agree mate and was thinking how the Russian manufacturers love showing the Germans getting smashed in all hand to hand engagements.
Anyway that’s ok as I modify them to show the opposite……

Extremely widespread. It was the biggest invasion in the history of humanity. In the first month alone the German army lost 30k killed. In contrast, the Soviets lost a staggering million (by independent estimates). The vast majority of these were not combat deaths, but from encirclements, desertion, and mass surrenders. The whole idea of a blitzkrieg is to break through, and encircle. The breakthrough part still involves tough fight, and the Soviets didn’t always roll over like western media portrays. In many cases the Soviet units outclassed their German counterparts. The KV1 was no fun to fight against. How do you defeat them with Pz2s and 3? Go around. This figure set is fantastic, and I’d love to see more HtH fighting like this.
