Hello to all

Hi everyone. I’m finally joining the forums after having lurked for a while. The reluctance to join was mainly being in awe at the level of modelling prowess on show as well as the amount of knowledge available from all members. I wasn’t sure if I could add anything to such an amazing group but then I saw how welcoming all of you are to those of us at beginner levels so I took the plunge to join. I will try to share a build or two once I complete an upcoming move to Canberra. I very much want to improve my work and will greatly appreciate advice.

I was into modelling aircraft as a kid then took time off until recently when I got back into the hobby although now focused on WWII vehicles and figures at the 1/35 scale. I also don’t have an air brush, and mainly use acrylic paints.

Very much looking forward to getting set up again after the move and engaging with all of you!

Welcome at Sam. We all start at the beginning and no was a master first kit out. Post your projects, questions to what you want to improve on and enjoy your models, your way.

Sam welcome to the forum! It’s good to have you on board!

Please feel comfortable showing your work and projects in process. We all start somewhere.

One of my early efforts, wearing silvered decals, in the wrong color, missing parts and with host of other issues.

Welcome Sam, you’ve come to the right place & in so doing also joined the merry band of Aussie members…I think with you we may now have cracked double figures. You’re lucky we’ve so far failed to agree on an Initiation ceremony (aka hazing) but it’ll doubtless involve alcohol and footwear.

You particularly got my attention because we’re also moving to Canberra (from Sydney) within the next few months - once the collective dust’s settled maybe we’ll get that ceremony out of the way at the Canberra Inn. Cheers, Tim

we’re all here to help one and other, there is no such thing as the ‘perfect built model’ in my mind, so don’t be shy, post some of your builds here!

Welcome to the madhouse!

Don’t worry about skills - we’re not competing here. All of us are on a journey, gaining experience one mistake/model at a time. As for gaps in your modelling hobby, that’s pretty normal - my 20s were wasted on travelling, partying, and women when I could have been gluing plastic together instead…

Sam, welcome to the Armorama Institute for the Criminally Insane! We’re all perfectly fine here!

As some have said earlier, we were all beginners at some point! That’s farther back for some than for others ; but you won’t find a more helpful or knowledgeable group of people!

Pull up a chair and enjoy the show!
