Helo bug has bit me. Metal landing gear "upgrade"?

OK, so Are the SAC metal landing gear “upgrades” really needed for the Kittyhawk/Academy Kits? Do they add any actual strength?? or any other advantage?

Thx.

No, the kit parts are fine in my opinion. I have two Kitty Hawk H-60s that have been sitting on the shelf for a few years (about 5) and the landing gear still looks the same and is supporting them fine.

I don’t know ifit ;s the same company you mention, but I have them for the Mi17. They look like they’ll add some strength.

Here’s the advantage to using them on Academy kits:
Drill a hole in the bottom of each main wheel. Run wires through the base which are attached to the struts inside the wheels. The struts are then attached to internal wiring. The rest is up to how might lighting you want.

To my knowledge all SAC sets are plastic parts molded in metal. No detail changes. Depending on kit, the metal gear can help with the weight balance and if you add lots of resin parts add stability. If you basically build OOB it’s not necessary.

SAC gear is soft pot metal. I’ve seen some of their stuff already bent up in the package. Not worth it IMHO.
