I’m having a real hard time trying to match the various colors from both shots, everyones wearing something different, colors look different any help on paint matches, thanks
Start with your basic olive green, olive drab, and khaki, then go from there. You can alter the base colors for each uniform item to make them appear slightly different.

Hope this image helps out…
Most of the uniforms are OD3 khaki in different shades; their tanker jackets are a bit brighter, so Tamiya Dark Yellow could work if you moderate it. “Machine” is wearing an M43 HBT uniform, which will be in OD7 Olive drab with a brown high neck sweater. “Gordo” is also wearing a reversible, HBT herringbone fabric, frogsking pattern camouflage uniform jacket, which was a bit of a rarity in the ETO, but some units did wear them in-theater.
What is interesting is that Brad Pitt (Wardaddy) is wearing US Army 3-strap Cavalry boots, while everyone else is wearing standard issue service shoes with and without leggings.
Wasn’t Brad Pitt a little old to be a sergeant commanding a tank? Average age of sergeants was mid-twenties, and Pitt was around 50 (actual age).
Well, if you want that level of verisimilitude, when the model is not on display shouldn’t the Shia LaBeouf figure be kept in a separate sealed box with a dead rat?
Cheers,
M
He is supposed to be a First Sergeant, but wears Staff Sergeant stripes. He would be a little old for a 1SG, but within the realm of possibility.
Yeah, but Brad Pitt don’t look 50,at least on screen
Infantry of 2nd Armoured Div were briefly issued “duck hunter” camo uniforms (also similar to USMC camo) in Normandy. They (the uniforms) were quickly recalled when they were realized to resemble German SS camo uniforms too much! Since this is 2nd Armoured Div it is quite possible for parts of the uniform still being used as everyone is wearing a mix of everything!
Uhhh…what is the reference of Shia Leboeuf and a dead rat??
A good brown, green, or sepia wash will blend, mute, and darken everything. Vallejo makes excellent acrylic washes. Just be sure not to be too heavy with the wash.
Then you can lightly drybrush to bring out the clothing wrinkle tops.
Kinda like Clint Eastwood being busted from Lt to Private as his backstory in Kelly’s Heroes. Or Lee Marvin in the Big Red One. From Torch to VE Day, he was a buck sergeant the whole time. After having served in WWI. It’s in the script
As a side note, IIRC, in the between the wars Army, if an NCO left his regiment, he would transfer and lose rank but not seniority.
He’s a Loony!!
