Hey everybody! Im looking for pictures of hemtt gun trucks… i can’t seem to find many pictures of the real thing
There weren’t many actually converted into gun trucks, so you probably won’t find many pics of them.
Here are a couple.
PLS
Thanks Gino!!! I really appreciate the pics!
On the first picture, armored glasses looks like humvee windshields parts.
Looks like someone Stole the guard shack .
Two are cut down shipping conatiners. Pretty ingenius.
Thanks for the pics!! giving me some ideas for hopefully a soon to be project!
I think you might be right! A for creativity for those guys
That’s funny!
There are pictures of PLS with “operator installed armour” here:
Only the thumbnails can be seen, not the actual pictures. Did you by any chance save the pictures, and would you be willing to share them?
Regards Thomas
M1074 (notice the crane) PLS, not HEMTT.
But a very attractive model topic, in my eyes. More pictures, please
They definitely have a “Mad Max “ look to them.
I know this is a old thread and this info is no use to you but i thought you may find it interesting to know that i was one of the machine gunners on the m977 hemtt rolling thunder gun truck.(1st pic, top). We called it the battleship. Me and my crew actually fabricated everything you see added to original. We used what we had to make us as safe as possible. We called it hillbilly armor. This was all done in Kuwait, before our convoy into Northern Iraq. I was the m240b machine gunner(me standing beside it in the pic),which is the one in middle on back(left flank). It was fitted with (2) .50 cal machine guns 500-700rpm, (1)m240b 7.62cal 900rpm machine gun, (1) squad auto weapon (s.a.w) in 5.56 cal throwing similar rpm’s (round per minute) as m240. We also had a mark 19 automatic grenade launcher that we could mount on the fly. There was several AT4’s(shoulder rockets),dozens of pin grenade’s, various colors of smoke grenade’s, and thousands of extra belts of ammo for our crew served weapons. We always kept compressed air(blowing sand out) and clp along with extra barrels and parts so we could quickly fix a jam. We served as rear convoy security during many hundreds of missions and over 10k combat miles. We done anything from supply convoy security to VIP security and everything in between. Due to our trucks unique abilities to provide hellacious fire power from all sides, we was constantly requested. Towards the end of our tour, our intelligence dept sent word to our platoon Sgt that they had discovered a sizable bounty had been placed on our truck in particular. I have no doubt that was true because we was involved in 5 ied(improvised explosive device)and 1 svied(suicide vehicle-ied) attempts. All was unsuccessful as far as fatalities and catastrophic damage to our truck, thank our good lord. Once we got done with our tour, we left the truck in the same configuration for our replacements. I have no idea what happend to it from there but i hope it served them as well as it did us, as it never left us stranded in any way during our year long deployment all while being driven hard daily. Thanks to Prez Biden, im sure some Taliban rag head is using it to terrorize innocent people as we speak. Sorry for the revised dead thread. I hope some of this info is a help to you and your welcom to ask any questions you would like. Good day!!
Welcome to the forum! Infornation such as yours is never of no use. Great stuff, and quite fascinating that you found us. In fact. I’m sure it won’t be long before folks are asking for photos, if you took any. (some folks on here were “too busy” during their tours. Welcome once again.
