Hillman Tilly Information

Hello fellow modellers…

Normally I would reside over in the salty side or playing with wing things, but I am looking to go beyond that and attempt some sort of a 3d model in CAD of the Hillman Tilly.

Does anyone know of, or can share any information that might help with that?

Thanks heaps in advance

I’ve seen that one, John, but am thinking more along the lines of 1/32 and/or 1/24 that I can model in CAD then 3D print hence the need for some sort of technical schematics… :slightly_smiling_face:

Does it necessarily have to be the Hillman?
Tamiya made/makes an Austin Tilly, very similar but not the same.

I’ve got copies of rudimentary schematics of the Austin, but can’t be sure whether they apply to the Hillman???

That’s beyond my knowledge.
I would presume that there would be differences all over the place.

The Austin Tilly will be one of the first LSA releases this time next year (we’re finally leaving Alaska and building a production facility in N.C.) It is a 1/24 scale release only if that helps any. I searched for quite some time and wasn’t able to find much more than the rudimentary schematics that you mentioned earlier. Not much information to go by except photos.

The Austin, Hillman, Morris and Standard Tilly’s are all similar but with lots of small differences. As @Michael_Shackleton says “The Tilly Register” (http://www.tillyregister.com/) is a great resource.

Cheers,

This sounds exciting Jim… Have you got any links to a website previewing the release, or any screen captures/information as a teaser?

No website yet as we are waiting to get moved. Looked all over and could only find a couple WIP images so I quick whipped out a mockup to show where the project is headed. The engine, transmission and headlights aren’t shown but are already done. There is also a whopping 4 different tire combinations to go with this little monster. The one’s shown will be in the base kit with some other military (possibly post war still researching that one) and one set of civilian tread tires as additional accessory sets. Have all manner British ammo cans and personal weapons and gear to go with this model, again, most will be as separate accessory sets.

Not impressed. I run The Tilly Register. Try talking instead of guessing.

Hi Micheal,

I do of course want to produce an accurate version of this model so I took your advice and your warm welcome to heart and just sent payment. Can hardly wait. To be fair I actually started this project years ago when I was just learning and have learned quite a bit about design since then. I can always refigure and adjust my design to whatever information your website can provide. The nice thing about computer design is that it is quite flexible so I’m sure that between my work and the information your website will surely provide the little Tilly should still be a viable project.

The grille and front end seems to require some adjustments.

You are correct. The Austin is still very much a WIP but I wanted to at least show that it is a project that is underway and not just an idea. Russelle asked for any teasers I had so I shared my WIP images, perhaps a bit too early. The good part is I’ve applied to Mr. Shackleton’s website and hopefully I can get a bit more information about these machines to make all the necessary corrections.
