HIMARS help needed

Does anyone have dimensions and location for the roof hatch on the HIMARS? I’m working on a corrected cab for the Trumpeter kit and I’m not sure the hatch or hatch location as molded are correct. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Can’t really help w/the hatch location, no dims anyways. This pic kinda shows it.

That is looking great. Are you going to sell these? If so, I’ll buy one.

.stl will be up on cults3d. Probably will sell the files. Profits to go to a Ukrainian group.

Whats wrong with the kit cab?

It is a prototype cab and has the center line in the wrong place, doors are off, bolts are all off, rear where the back wall and roof come together is off, front roofline is off, front windows are the wrong size, etc., etc., etc…

Too much work needed to make a good model out of it.

It can still be made into a close proximity and can be a very good model, just not the most up to date model of one.

One great example.

Which is why I’m just re-doing the cab (with bolt-on armor). I’ve fixed the issues listed but clear overhead photos are being tough to find and it’s making it difficult to finish the roof area…

I’ve always said “Don’t use someone else’s model as a reference.”
But since Meng usually does their homework, I’d trust this in the absence of better information.

Looks like anyone could do a decent HIMARS except Trumpeter.

Not really. Trumpeter’s is just not the fielded version. It also looks like Meng missed the cut-out on the door too, a feature of the prototype.

I think that Meng scan is actually from the Trumpeter kit. Meng doesn’t do a HIMARS.

Just announced today in 1/72. The boxart shows the correct line on the door though.

Well that is some very good news. They have the roof countors right too.

And since it’s an isometric CAD you can just lay your ruler right on the screen for measurements/ratios. :grinning:

I’ll buy on as well.
