Hobby Fan gun truck conversions

Hello all, I just purchased a Hobby Fan gun truck conversion and wondered if anyone had experience with these and things I might need to be aware of? Thanks for any info. Wayne

which one? as I recall there were 3 versions available at one point.

scratch that, I think I’m getting mixed up with Kirin.

I never had problems with Hobby Fan kits except their FH70 kit. Beware of this kit, it´ bloddy crappy.

I believe Klaus Adler was correct originally in that Hobby Fan did have 3 conversions available. I have two different ones in my stash listed as II and III, so I assume there was a I…

I have the #2 and just bought the #3, but I’ve never seen the first one either. Are the Kirin ones similar? Wayne

The Hobby Fan M35 guntrucks are of types that were in use during Vietnam. They are not of any specific guntrucks, but are common types that were used.

Check this older post that shows a bunch of M35 Guntrucks in Vietnam to get some ideas on accurate markings.

I wonder if there were two different versions. The traversing mechanism on mine differed from photos, along with several other details. But it remains the only game in town. Went together well enough.

Rob,
I don´t know what references they used, but the kit is wrong in many aspects. I got my example from the late M.H. Tserng personally. The only alternative is the kit from Hobby Japan. This one despicts the JASDF version, which has a different engine. To cure this MBK sells a correction set.

Combo kit available from MBK.

That makes sense. The initial all resin version was probably the Japanese version, which was not correct for the German one.

I send some pics of both HobbyBoss and HobbyJapan tomorrow.
