In Mission Impossible 7, Gabriel killed the crew of the locomotive. I was very confused at the time. The train was getting faster and had still moved for a long time, but there was no one to add coal.

Thanks for posting this- I have seen others by this gentleman. Amazing illustration. I like all things mechanical but nothing ticks all the boxes for mechanical fascination more than a steam locomotive.

No idea.
Maybe it was stoked with coal and the flutes opened wide so it didn’t need more coal.
I can’t help but wonder how HOT it was/is on a Big Boy 4-8-8-4 for the train crew.

^^^ This happened a few months ago as Big Boy 4014 was restored and back on the track again in 2023. Video is ~5 minutes and amazing

There are also things called automatic stokers which when turned on will operate and deliver coal to the fire box with out the fireman having to shovel.
