I’m down to the last few steps on my destroyer for the group build. I haven’t done a lot of ships where you need to hang boats from davits, but I need to on this one. It’s been hard for me in the past. Any tips on how to go about it?
Hi Phil, welcome to the new forum!
Attaching boats to their davits can be easy or a bit of a challenge, depending on how detailed you want to get. The simplest way is just t use the kit arrangements (usually pegs at the davit ends that fit into holes on the boat tops), but I’m guessing you want something a little fancier.
On my 1/303 Taney I was able to simply mount the boat to the deck in cradles and add lines from the davits beside the boat.
The “hanging boats” variety can be trickier. On the 1/700 scale Minekaze I glued the boat hulls to the davits and then added photoetch pulleys to the tops to make it look like they are holding the boats.
Neither was all that difficult, just a little fiddly with those tiny parts. Good luck with your boats!
