Am I correct in thinking that the builders of these extreme Lego projects have custom shaped /sized bricks made ?

No they don’t. They build from standard bricks. At least they did for sure a few years back. With the increase in 3D printing, they could be using “custom” bricks. A true brick artist will only use standard bricks though.

Impressive.
But I am more impressed with the programme “Lego Master”. All the participants have a lot of imagination.
I’m at a conference next to the Mall of America, in Minnesota, this week and the Lego store in the Mall has some HUGE, impressive builds. I would like to see the Big Boy in person though. It looks most impressive!
We need a plan and a materials list.
My Yoda figure instructions were massive for 1800 pieces. These instructions would have to be digital
