There is a “best kit” for every tank subject that there is a model of.
In smost cases there is only one kit of that particular subject.
This unique is therefore, by definition, the best AND in some cases
the worst kit of that subject.

The above is the reason for asking if there is anything specific that
you might be more interested in. Which scale you might want to
work with would also be good to know.

It will depend greatly as to what kind of tank you want to build… What era you want it to represent… What country it will represent…

WW1? WW2? Korea? Vietnam? Middle East Wars? Cold War? Iraq? Afghanistan? Ukraine War?

There’s a large pool of choices out there…

Which Manufacturer is the kit from? How easy (or complex) is the kit?

Uuuum… What scale? What time frame? German? British? American? Soviet? Your question is like “I want to eat food. What should I get?”. WAIT… Is this Ashton Kutcher? (or Allen Funt?) I think we are being punked!

“Best” is somewhat subjective too. IMHO Asuka Shermans are the apex of the breed. Some say Ryefield. (Some uneducated Neanderthals think Dragon is supreme. And there is the cult of God Tamiya. If it is not Tamiya kit, glue, paint, masking tape, tools it must not be used lest God
Tamiya sends his razor knife totting ninjas to kill you in your sleep.)

Oh yes!

There are at least two major categories for best as well First you have the ease of build and second you have the most accurate most of the time you don’t get both together.

Side Note: Best Candid Camera skit I saw was the guy pulling into a gas station (full service) ,with a Morris Mini, and telling the kid working there,“Fill it up. I need to go use the bathroom.” The show had replaced the 5 Gal (18 liter) fuel tank with a 20 gall.(75 liter) one. Kid pumping the gas is looking under the car trying to figure out where the gas is leaking out… as the car takes more and more and more petrol…  :joy:

Than Bronco, Miniart and AFV Club are the type of kits you seeks. The more mainstream the subject the more likely to have aftermarket sets.

Maybe have a look at some online reviews or, even better, check out Wade's World Reviews - Various AFV’s - #47 by Armor_Buff

From the looks of your work bench, I’d say…

…this would be a near perfect choice, has all the goodies in the box…

If the aftermarket bug bites QuickTracks for the Panther G would be a possible upgrade.

No help or suggestions are relevant until a definition of “best” is provided.

Side side note: a similar show in UK called Trigger Happy TV had Dom Joly (the main guy in it) dressed up as a snail waiting at a zebra pedestrian crossing and when the traffic stopped he laid down on his front and inched his way so slowly across much to the frustration of the waiting drivers :joy:

Based on your comments, I would suggest a Rye Field model of a World War II German vehicle including individual link tracks and a full interior. The part count for the base model will be in the 1,500 piece range. Those models have a lot of detail with room for plenty more, such as wiring the radios, smoke launchers, and so forth. You could add metal tracks, an exterior brass detail set, and an interior brass detail set. You could purchase a metal antenna.

Maybe a Tiger tank? Doing the research to get everything right adds another dimension of difficulty. You could easily spend $500 US on books and a year doing research before starting the model.

This is an example of the kind of model that might interest you: Rye Field Tiger I Initial Production

Tiger1Info has many notes on the model.

Please note, I am not suggesting this is THE BEST model. I am suggesting a type of model–those with full interiors and many detail parts in the box, with lots of room for more details–that might interest you. Tiger Is are probably the best known tanks with dozens of models, hundreds of books, and hundreds of detail items available.

I do not know who you are are where you are on your model building journey. If you are at the early stages of that journey, do NOT attempt what I suggest above. Instead, complete a series of much less ambitious projects to gain some experience.

If you have never built a tank before, I would start with something simple, a nice Tamiya kit like an M4A3 Sherman or a Panzer IV.

I agree. Something simple and quick that you can use to transition your skills and see what works and what doesn’t. Then you can graduate to more complex kits as you build your skill set.

Go into a store, look at the boxes of tanks. The one that catches your eye is the best one for you. This works with wives, cars, and flying creatures in Avatar.
And then you will learn to understand and make the right choice. This also works with wives and cars. But it’s already too late.
