ICM Ju 88A-4/Torp (Kit 48236). Another what is this part question

I’m working on ICM’s 1/48 Ju 88A-4 Torpedo Bomber and was wondering what this item is. Any thoughts? TIA.

Part of the torpedo aiming system according to what I could find.

Thanks Ryan.
I was thinking the same thing due to its location below the bombardier’s seat.

Torpedo los! …:sweat_droplets:

I’m none the wiser how it worked, I don’t think they had any radar-aiming (?) It looked like a clear part in the main image but opaque in the inset, with at least one hatch opening behind the forward end (?)

Hi Tim. Welcome to the wonderful world of ‘ICM Ju 88 variants!’

As I write this, I’m thinking the blister might be a cover for the torpedo release mechanism — not finding any solid info. in my searches thus far.

The long blister is actually moulded in opaque styrene. What looks like a hatch on the nose is a panel with a positioning tab for said part. The “Ju 88A-5 Bomber” variant differs here, as there would be a clear window in its place (see F18 in diagram below).

“Ju 88A-5” starboard interior assembly diagram.

Here’s an early shot of my work on the Ju 88A-4 interior with the lower nose opening covered-up.

Cheers! :upside_down_face:

I don’t know either. This link has some resources but my phone didn’t like the rabbit hole so I stopped digging.

The two links:

Both links give warnings which I presume are caused by non-existent security certificates
