ICM Ukrainian Kozak-2 MRAP

Hi all
I’ve just started this very model by ICM. The cast is pretty crisp, the detail is great and the overall fit is close to perfect.
The box contains less than 10 grey plastic sprues, 1 clear sprue, 1 small PE plate, 1 large decals sheet and 1 instructions booklet.
The plastic is a bit soft and you can easily damage it. The attachments to the sprues are small and well designed. The instructions are clear even though you need to carefully look at some drawings to get the parts in the right direction.
ICM gives painting instructions (in the ICM range) all along the assembly except for the floor and the dashboard. I need to find suitable pictures in the internet.
The decals include the pixel patches for at least 2 different vehicles.

Here is the result of 26 steps out of 136!

Interresting build to follow Olivier… as usual!
There’s a nice Youtube video about the build by an ukrainian modeller: Babakin if you’re interresting.

Some more progress on this interior this time.
You have 10 seats to assemble. Driver and commander’s ones are easy. The 8 others are more complicated due to the fragile protections. I have broken a couple of them just while cleaning the parts.
The dashboard comes with decals. ICM does not give you any instruction about where to put them. 2 of them are easy to locate. The 3rd one is a mystery.
The dashboard and the rear seats support are not glued yet.

I have painted the interior. The sides need to be painted too before being glued to the hull. This will be the next steps.

Some dust and mud will be added even if few will remain visible once the hull is complete.

I managed to have some time to make a few progress.
The hull interior is complete and the hull “box” is closed. I have added a number of details to the hull.
I also painted the inner faces of the doors. ICM only gives you the general color of the door lining. I found on the internet some pictures which show the details mainly in black. Still have some touch-ups to do. I’ll probably only present the rear doors open.

Today’s update is dedicated to the numerous grab handles around the vehicle. Now that they all are glued handling the model is a nightmare. I still haven’t glued the rear view mirrors supports, the clear parts for the lights and the lights PE protections.
The last steps will deal with the cupola.

This morning I completed the cupola and this afternoon I sprayed the base colors. (XF-26 Deep Green and XF-1 Flat Black)

After a couple of tedious sessions I finally applied all of the decals. I just miss a last gloss varnish coat to seal them before I can start the weathering.

Weathering beginning postponed! I had omitted to glue the very last details (PE headlights guards, wipers, rearview mirrors). I’ve removed all the masking tape.

Now the vehicle is ready for the weathering which will begin as soon as I have time enough for it.

Great models Olivier, it seems that the decals are efficients and don’t need to be done by paint.

Stéphane, the decals are true time-savers. You need to trim the edges which can be a long process. However this takes way less time than masking.

Here are some pictures of the Kozak after a run in a mud pool
I call this one done.
