Hi,
I had several IDF models in my stash, is there a date after when the anti slip texture was added to the vehicles? For example I had the Shot Kal Gimel from 1982, are they had this or not?

Antislip started being applied on Merkava I tanks during the 1982 Lebanon operations.
It mainly depends on the type of vehicle after 1982. Shot Cals did not have antislip.
Someone may correct me on this, but I have come to understand that the textured surfaces on IDF vehicles are not designed as ‘anti slip’ per se; evidently, they were incorporated as a means of reducing the reflection from strong sunlight in desert conditions. Of course, they do have an ‘anti slip’ function, but
this appears to be of secondary importance.

Indeed, but it’s the way everybody knows what’s the topic
sebfischer,
Apologies if I seemed to be critical … not intended.

No, no problem. A good advice for all readers.
