IDF Centurion Shot Kal Gimel

Amusing Hobby offering. Nicer than the AFV in my opinion. Indy links required no cleanup. They were already bagged as separate links so no cutting off from sprues and cleaning up the nubs. They snapped together and actually stayed together even when I removed them several times for test fitting and painting. A moderate amount of PE most of which made sense and actually added something to the build. There were some very fragile pieces that broke when I bent them but it may have been operator error. Tried a different approach to weathering. Attempted to depict a vehicle operating in an urban environment. Started with the usual IDF Sand Grey for the 1983 period. After my usually weathering process I used the AB to dust the entire model with a light grey especially on the skirts, lower hull, and road wheels. I also used a fan brush to add the streaks on the skirts. Not sure that the photos show the effects all that well. Interested to hear what you think. Did I pull it off? Is it too heavy handed or too light too be effective? Like I said this is my first attempt at this kind of finish. Thanks

I think it looks excellent DV. Very nice subtle shades of dust all over which is quite appropriate for this vehicle. Love it!
The only suggestion I have is maybe get a blue or gray poster board background to take pics, the finish will show up even more so.

Thanks. My photography is a work in progress. Need to make a run to Michael’s for the poster board.

Excellent build DV and I think the weathering is outstanding. Subtle but very effective. Superb model.

Here’s my simple set up DV, it’s set up right on my modeling table, I just move the lamps around til I get the lighting I want.

Thanks. Quite helpful and not complicated. I’ll certainly give it a go.

Here’s an example, I just move the lamps around til it looks right. I take the pics with my phone and move it back from or closer to the model.

Thank you Richard! It is a Soviet ASU-57 in Egyptian colors; it is a “what if” in that there’s no proof the Egyptian army used them. This was the AER Moldova/ Toga kit.

Great job on the ASU-57! I had that kit too, but eventually binned it & got the Hobby Boss kit…

Thanks Damon, it is a tricky kit to build with parts that don’t fit well but with a little work it can be built up to be decent. I have the Hobby Boss kit as well, it’s worlds better than the older kits.
