IDF Sho't Kal Gimel

Something I’ve been working on. Seems I’m stuck in IDF mode. This is the Amusing Hobby offering. Very nice kit. Workable Indy tracks. Links are bagged and not attached to the sprues. No clean up. They click together and actually stay together. I was able to remove them several times for test fitting and painting and they stayed together. High marks for the tracks. No metal barrel but it is a one piece and not halves. Minimal cleanup. Overall it’s a great kit. Perhaps not quite as detailed as the AFV kits but a much more enjoyable build. Some PE, mostly for the turret basket. I suspect Amusing Hobby is affiliated with another company but I don’t know who.

The photos are a before and after of my application of the dark oil wash that I use.

Head on shot showing left to right fender with wash removed, center freshly painted decaled and gloss coated, and right fender with wash applied about two hours ago.

Side view of wash applied to skirts.

AH gives you some very nice kits even though many of them are a bit simplified detail wise.
At least they are buildable without any big trouble.

Nice build DV. The paint job is really eye catching.

Looks really nice!

Just a detail for anyone that might build one in the future, the two rows setup of ERA blocks on the glacis is to be used on vehicles without the applique armor.

Vehicles with the applique armor on the top glacis have a single row of large ERA blocks.

This is a minor detail not known to many people.

I enjoyed building their Sho’t Kal, went together well. The only thing I didn’t think highly of was the lack of detail on the outer road wheels, so I swapped them out. I also used eBay sourced metal tracks as my kit tracks were fragile, possibly due to my heavy handed assembly.

It’s not you Russ. I’ve built several Amusing Hobby kits and every one has had snap together indy link tracks. They just refuse to stay together no matter what you do. I found they have to be glued together, and even then they break apart when assembling them on the tank because of the tiny contact surfaces between the links. Amusing Hobby kit tracks are beautifully molded but practically worthless.
