Happy Birthday.

I’ll help you celebrate.

“Peace in our time” was the philosophy of the government at the beginning of WW2. Once it became apparent that wasn’t true, the UK got on with what it needed to do. I suspect that scenario will be in play again should things turn bad. From what I know, New Zealand is a good place to visit. Contrary to the news (loves all the drama it can muster) the US or Canada would be a thought. The west coast of Washington State has about the same weather you do. Vancouver or Victoria in BC Canada would also have about the same weather.

Many thanks; sadly the only gift I got was this troublesome illness which has yet to take its toll, so the clatter of modelling tools may subside for a bit(!)

I’ve yet to scope this in detail; main stumbling block I am sure, will be my wife’s reluctance to accompany. Clearly some homework to do, but I’m running out of time

well enjoy your retirement until your call up papers arrive :rofl::rofl:

I’m exempt from military service on the grounds of my medical condition of being an incredibly handsome male, it’s a terrible burden but it’s one i shoulder with stoic humility :grin::grin:

Sounds like your vision (and a mirror) might let you down too!

Well, I aware that one can only stay 90 days per year in a European country - pos elsewhere I don’t quite know yet, but I’m thinking of testing the water for say, such a period possibly in an Airbnb as opposed to buying straight away. And actually retiring proper to a country is a different ball game; one has to qualify financially for instance which could prove limiting, or, or there’s the possibility than an extended break (90 days) somewhere else may just make return slightly more tolerable with recharged batteries etc, until the next round of governmental lunacies begin to prevail. Eventually of course, it will doubtless come to the time when the barbarians are breaking through the palisades, and one will be under a very real threat.

The challenge is that each country is set to run differently. In the US you are expected to pay for your health insurance either by cash or monthly payments to an insurance company in addition to cash.
