In search of 1/35 scale gladhands

AFV Club’s M54 series truck models contain compressed air couplings; their M35 trucks, for example, don’t. Perfect Scale Models offer couplings that aren’t ideal, especially as they don’t have the conspicuous dust protector “caps”. What I scratchbuilt for my M4 HST came out too big, see picture, so: Does anyone make correctly-sized couplings?

Sorry, forgot the pic:

I thought this was going to be an airbrush question  You may want to edit the thread title to be clearer

Too large or not, that’s a hell of a scratch build.

Will those work from @Petition2God ?

Jakko is right - “In search of 1/35 scale gladhands” would have been more unequivocal - admin?

WTF is a gladhand, though? From context here, I understand it, but only because I clicked on the thread title and then saw it’s the same thread I was reading yesterday with another title. “Air brake connectors” is much clearer to anyone who doesn’t know what I assume to be American automotive engineering jargon.

It is a palm connector in the UK (I think, based on some googling to find a supplier).
I believe it is called ‘palm-koppeling’ in the Netherlands.

Your scratch ones look pretty good to me and the right size. James’ 3D printed ones are very nice as well.

Thank you all very much, I think I’ll have a modeling buddy with a 3D printer help me get some Cults parts - scratch building takes too much time, as I know from experience.

Peter, I CADded the airbrake 3D print parts btw. You probably know this already, but the WWII version and the “modern” version (probably 1970s on) look a bit different:

Modern:

WWII:

Nice scratch-built for such tiny pieces!

Thank you for the compliment, James.
I take it that the parts offered at Cults are the modern version? In that case, I could hopefully use the “cover plates” (the sheet metal things with holes in them that protect the opening of the connector when that’s not in use) on scratch built WW II items, provided they come as separate parts. Or is there a WW II version available, too? The trails of the “Long Tom” gun and howitzer even had separate “pockets” to stow these items while on the move.
Research is Modeler’s friend and enemy!

True. Very True.

I actually CADded both versions and have them available for download:

WWII: 🚚 1/35 WWII US truck air brake connectors・ STL File for 3D printing・Cults

Modern: 🚚 1/35 Modern US Truck Air Brake Connector/Glad Hands・ STL File for 3D printing・Cults

All my other CAD files for download: All the 3D models of petition2God・Cults

The airbrake parts include both the ‘assembled’ and ‘separate’ parts.

I hope this helps and saves some valuable time.

Yes, that helps, thank you very much.

In the past I have compromised and used O scale (1/48th scale) glad-hands.
