Did the Indians ever fight in North Africa, as the uniform seems to show? I don’t think so.

The uniform seems to have been standard issue There is even a member of the Indian Legion pictured in Berlin wearing this uniform.

I should have wrote “did they fight for the Germans in North Africa”. Sorry for the confusion. Perhaps the tropical uniform was issued because they were meant to fight elsewhere? In fact, did the Indian Legion see combat anywhere under German command? I saw some stuff on Wiki, but I always treat anything I read there with a slight dose of skepticism.

I think they did see action in Europe, first in non combat roles but eventually in fighting roles and also in the SS, 3-4000 or so.

That’s pretty much what Wiki has, but is any of it verified by historians?

I’m more concerned why the Indian’s standing next to cactus – not (naturally) found in Africa…
