Turret was hit?

Nice. But whoever painted it got a little carried away with the weathering…

That slot is for the turret blower.

Nope, someone didn’t use their clippers and just twisted the turret from the sprue…

Thanks to all for the turret slot explanations! Especially, @Dan

@phil2015 Phil, now is always a good time for a T-55, one of the Cold Wars most interesting tanks!

Turret was hit?

It’s a slot for ventilating fumes from the main gun. The loader’s job was to turn on a fan, that red box to the right, while in combat but apparently it didn’t work very well.

Also, what is the provenance of this vehicle? The old Iraqi army never painted anything with brown camoflage, and the current one has all the T-55s it can get refurbished and in service.

Matt, thanks! That’s good to know

The staff member I talked didn’t know details on the T-55’s history. I’ll try to remember to ask when I’m there next time. They had received several vehicles recently and that was one of them from what I recall from last year.
