Do not forget that the IDF had M4A2 also.

That is true indeed. However, so far I have not seen any pictures of M-51s, which are for sure based on the M4A2 hull.
I do have pictures of M-50s, which are based on the M4A2, but that is another story.

Hi all,
I had just discovered this topic… two years later. I have a question about angled hull M51s. Is someone know if some of these tanks are from earlier batch with only one box and spare tracks on the hull side ?

most probably no because the first batch were based on cast hulls (M4A1) but you can never say never with the IDF. All the photos I have of welded hull M51s are with the two boxes per hull side.

As Nikos states, so far, there is only photographic evidence of (late, 47 degree) welded hull IDF M-51s with the same dual stowage box configuration. Also the gun lock on the rear hull is always the same type, made from tubes rather than angled iron beams.
And recently I visited my friend, where my M-51 kit resides, so there is a little progress 
Currently I work on the hull, basic Sherman parts like the driver hatches, and I have begun working on the etched parts on the mantlet cover.

Why did you leave the model with your friend?
Just for convenience. I only need to bring my toolbox, when I see him. No matter what I want to do, everything I need is in the project box at his place - basic kit, extra detail parts, references. Also, I can not spray paint at home, so I do that at his place. All in all, a very good arrangement for me
