Do you ever wake up in the morning and think to yourself “It’s camouflage day!”?
When you finally get a nice even main color down over the primer of your choice and a good dusting of a lighter shade for highlights and it’s showtime. Let the camo flow!
It’s like a blank canvas or a free pass. What do you do? Plan? Research? Draw it out? Freestyle? Camouflage day is a day I look forward to!
I don’t wake up thinking about it. But it is fun. As for the style if you’re building a specific vehicle and want it to be accurate then you follow the instructions.
But you can get away with a lot particularly WW2 German vehicles. If you’re modelling a generic vehicle who’s to say you’re wrong? Some of the photos I’ve seen of German vehicles are nothing nothing short of bizarre. The sky is the limit.
Actually I admit that sometimes I will wake up in the morning thinking about it after I do chores or run errands because I love armor modeling and especially camouflage vehicles; figures that have camouflage uniforms actually intimidate me because to get it accurate and in scale is a chore for me.
@MasterCylinder, Yes, I usually wake up thinking what kit to work on next. This morning I woke up thinking I will prime the Panda M-ATV and am currently prepping it for primer right now.
@metalhead85, I use camo decals on my figures. I have zero hand painting camo skills for figures. These were done with CrossDelta cam o decals.
@18bravo, I do the same thing. That is why I started the Panda M-ATV, ILK JLTV and ILK SOCOM M-ATV at the same time. I am only on the Panda kit for now though. I need to just do one at a time so I can at least get one finished. I was thinking of changing the overall sand camo on the Panda kit to the NATO camo though but I just primed it this morning in sand primer.
I sprayed camo on my latest build, put it down for a minute, now I can’t find it! Need to stop getting so good at camo…
Seriously, I need to wait for inspiration to strike before cranking up the airbrush - there’s nothing worse than losing motivation halfway through a session. Same goes for hand-brushing camo, or any detailing…
