Italeri re-releases RSO/PAK 40

Another re-release from Italeri, although they don’t say so, and seem to be treating it as a new release. At least, this time there is not a better release since (that I know of). As I remember, the gun was best replaced with one from Dragon, or now, from Miniart.

Same old sprues…same old crappy tracks. Wonder if the necessary PE is still available for the kit?

edit: almost forgot - Dragon did a better one, if it’s still available!

I believe that I remember that the floor for the load bed was inaccurate.

Not that this adds much value but I remember reading somewhere that the Dragon version (the original tractor version) was under scale; I only wish I could recall where I came across it.

On a separate note when this combination fired it must have been something to see; I’m surprised it didn’t turn over.

Questions about accuracy often originate in a Missing-Lynx discussion. (The linked discussion is not easy to follow, nor does it contain an easy to understand conclusion.)

Dragon RSO models of this variant are still available via eBay.

No one currently makes injection molded RSO replacement tracks. Metal and printed RSO replacement tracks are available.

Maybe, but a review on Armorama, and AMPS, on kit #6679 don’t mention any scale discrepancies.

I have Italeri’s RSO/01 kit, the reason I have it is that supposedly it’s the most accurately scaled kit. I’ve been patiently waiting for about 3 years now though for someone to come out with some aftermarket drive/idler sprockets as that’s a shortcoming of Italeris kit.

If anyone purchases this who’s used to modern quality kits like meng, takom, RFM…… they will be in for a surprise!

It’s possible it could have been on Track-Link which is just about the only other site I dip into; perhaps Missing-Lynx or even on here. It must have been around a couple of years ago.

it’s beginning to bug me now not least as it makes me look like I’m dwelling on the negative(!) Oh well, put it down to the onset of senility.

I haven’t bought a kit of theirs in years.

Is this a new release? Now they’ll have to make a specific crew for this PaK 40.

Check the rest of their catalogue, it’s in a separate topic, maybe they have already thought about a crew.
